QUESTION: What do I need to know about Google Analytics 4?

Things you need to know about Google Analytics 4

This question came into my Ask Me Anything column yesterday so I wanted to respond quickly however I’ve been getting a lot of questions about Google Analytics 4 so I may end up writing a more in-depth post about this later on but for now, here’s what you need to know in a nutshell:

Many business owners are getting ready for their GA4 setup, but there are some things that you need to know before moving forward with setting up GA4.

GA4 eCommerce Tracking

If you already run an ecommerce business, then you are aware of the importance of collecting customer data to offer better quality services.

Google’s new rollout will come with sharper GA4 ecommerce tracking features for more accurate results.

What does this mean for your business?

In short, you can track events with GA4’s automated event tracking capability without having to write them.

As a result, you can monitor actions like form submissions, button clicks, and page views on your website without having to install any code.

These occurrences will be immediately detected by GA4 and noted in your GA4 account.

The GA4 reporting interface may then be used to determine how these events impact your website’s functionality.

Any website owner who wishes to maximize the most of their GA4 membership should use GA4 automated event tracking.

You may still build custom events in GA4 to monitor behaviors that are important to your company, including the beginning and end of videos.

If you still haven’t started on your GA4 setup, then there’s still time (plenty of it, actually).

You have a whole year to get yourself and your staff familiar with the all-new Google Analytics 4, but starting now will give you the head start you need to make the switch.
